Detecting the Radio Signal From a Car Remote
In this section of the lab, students will use an RTL-SDR (software-defined radio) and GNU Radio to detect the signal emitted by a car key fob. By tuning into the specific frequency range used by key fobs, students can observe the short bursts of data transmitted when the button is pressed. This hands-on exercise allows students to explore how everyday devices like car keys use electromagnetic waves to send signals, reinforcing their understanding of radio frequencies, signal modulation, and real-world applications of SDR technology.
